Commissioned by Swiss bass trombone player Johannes Bigler this Concerto was and premiered in 1998 during "Varna Summer" musical festival. It was named by the critics as "a brilliant piece... a model of miniature form."

The score for bass trombone and orchestra is also published. Orchestra material is available on hire.

Alexander Tanev – Rondo Scherzando

für Posaune und symphonisches Orchester

Rondo Scherzando was written in 1964 for the annual Bulgarian trombone competition as a piece for Trombone & Piano. In 1971 the work was orchestrated for full Symphony Orchestra. It is the most popular and beloved solo piece among the Bulgarian trombone literature.
